Screw on the top after the glue has hardened and reassemble the controller making sure the new longer cable doesn't interfere with any inner workings.

Pull the cable till it stops in the top piece and hot glue both ends.

First put the threaded cap on the cable, then put the cable through the threaded top piece and connect the wires (there is only four to connect the yellow is not used).

Prepare both ends of the wires and re-attach the threaded top piece.

Pull back the steel braiding and cut it in a way so that no sharp ends will interact with the coloured wires(5).

Cut off the threaded cap(4) so that after the cable is glued you will have an extra bit of pull protection.
