Ship combat was boring, basic strategy was to use anyship + wind, dodge and shoot dodge and shoot removing sails. Later game you got a Caravel, Holk (fatter armed version of the cog). Sea combat was boring, you had 3 ships early game, a Cog, Crayer, or sinika. Pirates were very hard to wipe out, required you to become a patrician rank (which was end game and very hard to reach) and ge approval from the Hanseatic league.
